Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) collected three hits and the Bombers stole a season-best eight bases as the #16 baseball team (5-4) posted a 6-1 win at Washington (6-5) Sunday.
Raux singled in a run in the first and hit a solo home run in the third as Ithaca scored single runs in each of the first three innings. Junior first baseman
Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush) hit a two-run single in the seventh and added an RBI single in the ninth to close out the scoring. He also stole two bases, as did sophomore infielder
Dylan Perez (Conval Regional [N.H]/Peterborough, N.H.).
Senior
Matt Lavoie (Moses Brown/Providence, R.I.) earned his second win of the year, allowing five hits in six innings. Sophomore
Pete MacDaniel (Schuylerville/Gansevoort) fanned three in two innings of scoreless relief.
Junior outfielders
Shane Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) and
Matt Samela (Staples/Westport, Conn.) added two hits apiece.
The Bombers are scheduled to host Oswego Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Freeman Field.
